Dr. Harry J. Guttman assists clients with patent application preparation and prosecution, ex parte and inter partes reexaminations, reissue applications, opinions, due diligence, and client counseling.  He focuses on the chemical and biotechnology arts with representative technical areas including: pharmaceuticals, biologics, organic chemistry, biochemistry, fusion proteins, immunology, immunochemical test strips, microbes, cosmetics, polymer chemistry, films, nonwovens, dental materials, photochemistry, rubber chemistry, inorganic chemistry, optical fibers, semi-conductor chemical processing, fuel cells, and electrolysis.

Dr. Guttman has more than nine years of patent law experience.  He examined patent applications for the United States Patent and Trademark Office in the Biotechnology and Organic Chemistry Technical Center.  He then worked as a patent agent, student associate, and associate at Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, L.L.P., before moving to leading law firms in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Prior to entering patent law, Dr. Guttman garnered over ten years of scientific research experience that focused on using physical chemical concepts to understand molecular processes in biological cellular systems.

Dr. Guttman has lectured on several patent law issues including (1) introducing intellectual property concepts and procedures tailored to client needs, (2) optimizing interactions with the Patent Examiner during patent procecution, (3) understanding proposed patent rules, and (4) implementing recent patent cases in client intellectual property strategies. 

He is the recipient of the ABA/BNA award for Excellence in the Study of Intellectual Property Law.
